Remento's automatically generated stories

Our AI Writing Tool lets you customize how each story appears in your book. Choose between a polished narrative (in first or third person) or a cleaned transcript that preserves your exact words minus the "ums" and "ahs." You can adjust the length of each story and edit any text directly to add details or make corrections.

Specifically, there there are three different ways for your story to be generated:

  1. Cleaned transcript: Your exact words with "ums" and "ahs" removed and punctuation added for clarity.

  2. First-person story: A restructured version of the transcript designed to sound more like a written story, written as if you had hired a ghostwriter to write on your behalf (e.g., "I went to the store"). In this version, the length of the story can be adjusted.

  3. Third-person story: A restructured version of the transcript designed to sound more like a written story, written as if you had hired a biographer to write about you (e.g., "Lisa went to the store"). In this version, the length of the story can be adjusted.

The original recording remains unchanged and accessible when viewing the story on Remento's site, as well as through the QR code in your printed book, preserving both the written story and the authentic telling for future generations.

Changing the perspective of a story

Making these changes and editing the text in your story happens directly on the story page (see below), and you can do this from any device.

  1. To change the style of a story in Remento, open the story and tap Edit✨ below the text.

  2. Choose how you want it written—first person, third person, or a cleaned transcript. You can also adjust the story length with the slider.

  3. Tap Preview to see the changes, the system will generate the updated story.

  4. You can undo your changes or click edit to change the transcript perspective by clicking on Edit

  5. If you’d like to fine-tune the wording or add photos, you can manually edit the title or story details, then tap Save.

💡 Once you update your story, it will overwrite any existing edits to the written story.

Change the default perspective

If you would like to make this change to all of your stories moving forward, you can go to Project Settings, find the Transcription mode section, and select edit. From here, select your preferred transcription mode, then save your settings.

💡 Updating the default perspective won’t affect existing stories. To change the perspective of past stories, you’ll need to update them manually.
