How to Scan and Add Photos to Remento

Photos do more than capture a moment—they unlock stories. Digitizing old family photos and adding them to Remento can help spark richer memories and bring stories to life for generations to come.

How to Scan Photos Using Photomyne

We recommend using Photomyne, an easy-to-use mobile app that allows you to scan multiple photos at once using your phone.

Scanning Photos with Photomyne

  1. Download and open the Photomyne app

Install Photomyne from the App Store or Google Play and open the app.

  2. Tap the Scan (camera) button

This opens Photomyne’s built-in scanning camera.

  3. Place your photos on a flat surface

Lay photos on a table or floor with good lighting. You can scan multiple photos at once as long as they don’t overlap.

  4. Capture the scan

Hold your phone steady above the photos. Photomyne will automatically detect and capture them, or prompt you to tap the shutter.

  5. Automatic cropping and enhancement

Photomyne separates each photo, straightens it, and enhances clarity and color automatically.

  6. Review and edit (optional)

You can rotate, recrop, or adjust brightness and color if needed.

  7. Save your photos

Your scanned photos are saved in the app and can be exported to your phone or cloud storage.

Tips for Best Results

  • Scan in batches of 4–10 photos at a time

  • Use natural, indirect light to avoid glare

  • Place photos on a dark background for better edge detection

  • Make sure photos don’t overlap

How to Add Photos to Remento

Once your photos are digitized, there are two ways to add them to Remento, depending on how you want to use them.

Option 1: Add Photos to a Prompt (to Inspire a New Story)

Photos can be added to prompts to help guide and inspire storytelling.

Use this option if you want a photo to:

  • Spark a new story

  • Anchor a prompt to a specific moment, person, or place

  • Help storytellers recall details more vividly

Option 2: Add Photos to an Existing Story

If a story has already been recorded, you can upload photos afterward to visually accompany that memory.

Use this option if you want to:

  • Add context or imagery to a completed story

  • Match photos to stories after recording is done

  • Enhance stories without re-recording them

Which Option Should I Use?

  • Before recording a story? Add photos to a prompt

  • After a story is recorded? Upload photos to the existing story

Both approaches help create a more immersive and meaningful Remento experience by pairing voices, stories, and images together.

If you have questions or need help deciding which option is right for you, our team is always here to help.
