What are prompts?
Prompts are questions or photo cues that help storytellers capture their most meaningful memories. They're at the core of the Remento experience, allowing hosts and collaborators to guide storytellers in sharing the stories that matter most.

Writing your own prompt
Create completely original questions tailored to your family's unique history or specific relationships. These often produce the most intimate and meaningful responses.

Write the question you wish to ask your storyteller
Once done, tap "Add question" to add it to your queue
Creating a photo prompt

Tap "Upload photo" and choose the images you wish to add as prompts
Once added, you can edit each photo to include written questions. ✨ Note: Each uploaded photo will count as its own prompt.

How to manage your prompts
Once you've created prompts, you can edit, reorder, or delete them before they're sent to your storyteller.
Editing prompts
Edit prompts in the "To be sent" section before they're delivered to your storyteller.
Log in to Remento
Go to the "To be sent" section
Open the prompt you'd like to edit
Edit the question as needed, then select Save
To add or change photos:
Tap the horizontal three-dot menu (⋯) in the corner of the prompt
Choose an image
Tap Save when finished
Reordering prompts
Change the order in which prompts will be sent to your storyteller. When you reorder a prompt, its send date automatically updates.
Here’s how to reorder your prompts:
On a computer, laptop, or device with a mouse:
Log in to Remento
Navigate to the Prompts page
In the "To be sent" section, click and hold anywhere on the prompt
Drag it to your desired position
On a touchscreen device:
Log in to Remento
Navigate to the Prompts page
In the "To be sent" section, tap and hold the six-dot icon on the right side of the prompt
Drag it to your desired position
Important: Prompts can only be reordered in the "To be sent" section. Once a prompt is sent, its order cannot be changed. The order in which prompts are answered won't affect the final layout of your book.
Deleting prompts
Remove prompts from either the "In progress" or "To be sent" sections.
Log in to Remento
Navigate to the Prompts page
Find the specific prompt under "Sent" or "To be sent"
Tap to open the prompt

Select "Delete prompt"
In the confirmation dialogue, press "Delete prompt" to finalize
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I upload videos to Remento?
At this time, Remento doesn’t support uploading existing videos. If this is a feature you’d like to see, let us know by emailing our support team—your feedback helps guide what we build next.
Is there a limit to the number of prompts I can answer?
There’s no limit! You can answer as many prompts as you’d like and later choose which ones you want to include in your book.
Can I add more than one photo to a prompt?
You can add one photo when answering a prompt. However, after the story has been recorded, you’ll have the option to add additional photos to enhance and personalize it further.
Can I record a story without prompts?
Currently, you’ll need a prompt to record a story. If you’d rather not focus on a specific memory, you can create a general or custom prompt to tell your story more freely—like “Share anything that’s on your mind today” or “Tell a story that’s important to you.”
How long can a recording be?
Each recording can be up to 30 minutes long. If your story takes more time, you’re welcome to continue it in another prompt or create a follow-up recording.
Can I change prompts after I've added them?
Yes! You can edit any prompt in the "To be sent" section. Simply tap the edit button (pencil icon), adjust the question or swap the photo, and save your changes. Once a prompt has been sent to your storyteller, it cannot be modified
Will the project pause if no one adds prompts?
No. The storyteller can continue independently by selecting or creating their own prompts. However, the host can resume adding prompts at any time to guide the storytelling direction.
