What do I do if I decline camera/microphone permissions?

If you're trying to record on an iPhone using Safari but you're not prompted to grant permissions, two things may have happened: you may have accidentally declined permissions, or you may not allow Safari access to your microphone and/or camera.

Safari - web

If you're trying to record on an laptop or computer using Safari but you're not prompted to grant permissions, two things may have happened: you may have accidentally declined permissions, or you may not allow Chrome access to your microphone and/or camera. Follow these instructions to troubleshoot your permissions:

  1. Click on Safari in the top right and select Settings for web.remento.co

  2. Make sure that Camera and Microphone are set to Allow

  3. Refresh the page.

Once you've done that, try recording again.

Safari - mobile

Accidentally declined permissions

If you accidentally declined permissions, typically you need to refresh the page and try again. Tap the refresh icon as shown below:

If you refreshed the page and still don't see the pop-up asking for permission, you will need to check your device settings. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to check your phones settings if you use an iPhone and Safari.

Open the settings app on your phone, then:

  1. Tap the search bar

  2. Type "Safari"

  3. Select "Safari"

Then:

  1. Scroll to the bottom

  2. Find "Camera" and "Microphone"

Lastly:

  1. Tap into "Microphone" and change the setting to either "Ask" or "Allow"

  2. Tap into "Camera" and change the setting to either "Ask" or "Allow"

Once you've done that, try recording again.

Chrome - desktop

If you're trying to record on an laptop or computer using Chrome but you're not prompted to grant permissions, two things may have happened: you may have accidentally declined permissions, or you may not allow Chrome access to your microphone and/or camera. Follow these instructions to troubleshoot your permissions:

  1. Click the slider icon in the URL bar

  2. Make sure that Camera and Microphone are toggled to ON

  3. Refresh the page.

Once you've done that, try recording again.

Chrome - mobile - iPhone

If you're trying to record on a mobile device using Chrome but you're not prompted to grant permissions, two things may have happened: you may have accidentally declined permissions, or you may not allow Chrome access to your microphone and/or camera. Follow the instructions below to troubleshoot your permissions.

Accidentally declined permissions

If you accidentally declined permissions, typically you need to refresh the page and try again. Tap and drag down on the screen, then tap the refresh icon as shown below:

If you refreshed the page and still don't see the pop-up asking for permission, you will need to check your device settings. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to check your phones settings if you use an iPhone and Chrome.

Open the settings app on your phone, then:

  1. Tap the search bar

  2. Type "Chrome"

  3. Select "Chrome"

Then:

  1. Make sure Microphone and Camera are toggled to ON

Once you've done that, head back to Remento and try recording again.

Chrome - Android

If you're trying to record on an Android phone using Chrome but you're not prompted to grant permissions, two things may have happened: you may have accidentally declined permissions, or you may not allow Chrome access to your microphone and/or camera.

  1. Tap the slider icon in the URL bar

  2. Tap “Permissions”

  3. Make sure “Camera” and “Microphone” are toggled ON

  4. Refresh the page.

Once you've done that, head back to Remento and try recording again.

Firefox - desktop - mac

If you are unable to record on a computer using Firefox, you may have accidentally blocked access to your camera and/or microphone. Follow the steps below to to resolve:

  1. Click the slider element in the toolbar as shown


  2. Press the “x” icon next to the “Blocked Temporarily” badges.


  3. Refresh the page, and make sure you allow camera and/or mic access when prompted next.

Once you've done that, head back to Remento and try recording again.

Firefox - mobile - iPhone

If you're trying to record on an iPhone using Firefox but you're not prompted to grant permissions, two things may have happened: you may have accidentally declined permissions, or you may not allow Firefox access to your microphone and/or camera.

Edge - desktop

If you're trying to record on computer using Microsoft Edge but you're not prompted to grant permissions, two things may have happened: you may have accidentally declined permissions, or you may not allow Edge access to your microphone and/or camera.

Give browser immediate access to camera and microphone

If you accidentally declined permissions, click the ‘lock’ icon on the left hand side of the URL, and next to ‘Camera’ and ‘Microphone’ select ‘Allow’ from the respective drop-down menus.

  1. Click on the ‘More’ button (3 horizontal dots) in the far right corner next to the URL address bar, and then click ‘Settings

  2. Select the ‘Cookies and Site Permissions’ tab, and then click on 'Camera' or 'Microphone."

    Turn on the option for ‘Ask before accessing.' If it is already turned on, try toggling it off and then back on.

  3. Check to see whether web.remento.co is listed as one of the sites blocked. If it is then click on the trash icon next to the site’s name and try to click the Camera button once more in the bottom menu toolbar.

Once you've done that, head back to Remento and try recording again.
